Ten months later her nose was too painful to touch. She had to keep telling herself that this is the price of beauty. There is some detailed information on the disadvantages of plastic surgery, such as complications, possibility of physical disability and addiction. (Disadvantages Of Plastic Surgery) One of the most obvious shortcomings of plastic surgery is the risk of complications. Our body is sensitive, if something goes wrong during or after the plastic surgery, it will result in an infection or illness. We also shouldn’t ignore the possibility of physical disability. If you become disabled, you will feel more painful than remaining your original appearance. In addition, some people may be addicted in plastic surgery. They look forward to change more parts of their body after they did it once successfully. However, since plastic surgery is so popular, it must have the advantages can attract people a lot. First of all, a beautiful appearance can improve one’s chances in the job market and help one’s career. Let us assume, some jobs related to public relations, mass media or other things require pleasant appearances, which may represent the image of the department or group, like airline stewardess and Miss Sales. In the second place, plastic surgery helps people gain confidence which makes them have more courage to do many things and enhance the probability of success. Because many people lack confidence for they don’t have good looks. Thirdly, with the development of technology and medical science, the risks and costs of plastic surgery can be minimized. According to the survey analysis, the public opinion about cosmetic surgery can be classified into three types: one is support by action; the second is that people understand it but won’t do it themselves; the third is disagreeing with cosmetic surgery. The development of science and technology and change of notion of people respectively make cosmetic surgery more popular. Cosmetic surgery is wonderful and magical by using the technology and science to some extent. Some people choose cosmetic surgery because a beautiful appearance is their choice of purpose. Some people choose cosmetic surgery due to inborn or accident disfigurement of body. A few people choose cosmetic surgery in order to look like their idol. Person who understands it but won’t do it themselves because people’s education and concept are changing as time goes by. So, most people accept this phenomenon calmly. They would not do it for the investigation of surgery and the damage of body. People who disagree with it because they think cosmetic surgery is really harmful for body. A person’s appearance cannot represent his behavior, people’s inner is more important than his appearance. In my opinion, it depends on different conditions. Only people themselves can decide if plastic surgery is right for them. Meanwhile, they should know much information and think deliberately before they make a decision. In addition, having plastic surgery does not necessarily mean neglecting inner beauty. It is understood that some companies would not hire a person only with an appealing appearance but without enough capability. Real beauty is a combination of external and internal beauty. It includes excellence behavior, character and education. Therefore, we should have confidence and be positive. The Elevator Essay Example For Students

The Elevator Essay Unconfirmed reports from Rikkers Islands says that one of their inmates hasescaped, and may be in the vacinity, the DJ on Amy Battss car radio reported. Great. Another thing to worry about, Amy thought as she pulled her car into the parking garage. It is rumored that the prisoner that alledgedly escaped as a distingising tatoo on his righthand. Its suppossedly of a snake wrapped around a young girl, the DJ was saying as Amyparked her car. It was almost 8:30 on Tuesday night at Smith Johnsons Law Firm. At thetender age of 25 Amy landed an intership at the New York law firm. It was great! Shegot the chance to aid attorney in cases (mainly by doing reshearch, but hey it will lookgreat on a resuma). Other than her footsteps, which echoed through out the parking gargae, the placewas dead silent. If she hadnt forgotten an importin law book she wont even be there. Amy felt her heart beating wildly as she neared the elevator. Get a grip Batts, she said to herself. Its not like youre the only person here. Which was true, a lot of lawarys burned the midnight oil at Smith Johnson, workinghard to prove their case. Still, she hesated at the elevator. Amy has always feared elevators. Who could blame her? Think about it for aminute. You enter a steel cage. You are cut off from all help. You dont know anyoneelse in the elevator. Still, she stood there, forced to decide between her faithful stairs, or the cold, metal elevator. Theres nothing to be afraid of, Amy told herself. Its just an elevator. There have been reports of muggings on stairs. The elevator is safer, she rationalized asshe pushed the button to summen the steel box. The doors swooshed open, and Amy had to step back from the glare of the lights. Then, very timidly, she stepped inside the death trap, and watched as the doors clangedtogether behinde her. Her work area was on the 25th floor. Takeing deep breaths Amystared back at herself relected in the mirror like doors. Her long blonde hair was slightlymessed up, and there were bags under her dark brown eyes. She was all alone. Its not that bad, Amy thought to herself as the elevator slowly asended. Noone else is in here. Im safe. She watched as she passed the first parking garge level, then the second, and the third. Suddenly the elevator stopped. Amys heart was racing asthe doors opened to reveal a big, musculare man blocking the exit. He stepped inside theelevator, and pushed the botton for the 16th floor. The doors closed behind him. Theywere locked together in a steel cage. Amy stared at him out of the conner of her eyes. Get a grip, she told herself. See the white paper bags, hes just a delivery man, her mind said. That didnt help herthough. He was wearing tight jeans, a harley davidson shirt, a ripped jean jacket, and ablue banndana wrapped around his over gleed, black curly hair. Tatoos covered his body. Amy took in all of this. See anything you like? he barked at her. This snapped Amy out of her trance. Sorry, I didnt mean to stare, she said looking away. They had just passed the2nd floor. Well, you were, he said. What was so interesting that you couldnt take youreyes off of it? he asked moveing closer. Jasper Jones free essay sample

He discovers that Corrigan has small town morality and relies solely on rumour, Corrigan is also a very racist town and are quick to judge the Lu family, who are Vietnamese, and Jasper Jones, who is half indigenous. He later discovers that Corrigan is hypocrisy and award the prestigious jobs to the most undeserving people. From the moment Jasper Jones knocked on Charlies’ window, Charlie discovers everything he thought was right and wrong, was no longer as black and white as he thought. The first time Jasper knocks on Charlies’ window, after Charlie is shown Laura’s body, Charlie is shocked to find Jasper all bruised and beaten up. But what shocked him most, was that it wasn’t just a regular beating, it was the local Sharif and the mayor, Laura’s father, who had physically abused Jasper. This would be the first time Charlie questions his thoughts of right and wrong. We will write a custom essay sample on Jasper Jones or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Charlies’ indecision and confusion is shown through the metaphor of a snowdome : â€Å"How strange and abandoned and unsettled I am. Like a snowdome paperweight that’s been shaken†¦ Everything in my world that was steady and sure and sturdy has been shaken out of place, and now its drifting and swirling back down in a confetti of debris. Even though Charlie is confused, he has a gut feeling that helps lead the way, â€Å"They asked me if I’d been with Jasper Jones/I was terrified, nut something kicked in me. I discovered a gift for lies. † As Charlie moves from innocence to experience, he recognises Corrigan for what it truly is, and discovers the obvious display of small town morality. This is demonstrated when Corrigan’s lack of tolerance and understanding lead to the myth that forms around Mad Jack Lionel, â€Å"But as the myth grows in girth, so too does our fear of the mad killer hidden in his home. This is evident also, when Charlie co mments that, â€Å"It’s hard to understand. The folks who watch Jasper play, who barrack for him like he was one of their own, are the same ones who might cut their eyes at him should he walk their way a few hours after the game. † He recognises the same quality in the town when his is surprised that the town’s people are supporting Jeffrey Lu because he is winning the cricket game for them, which Charlie recognises is different from their normal behaviour when they obviously reject him. When Charlie is drawn into the tragedy he discovers the racial prejudice that is present in Corrigan. This is evident when Jeffrey’s cricket skills are not recognised as he is from Vietnam, â€Å"Jeffrey’s parents are Vietnamese, so he’s ruthlessly bullied and belted around by the boys at school†¦ But he takes it all astonishingly well, which has always eased my guilt given that I’m never brave enough to intervene. Jeffrey is unflappable. † The towns racism is also shown towards the Lu family when their garden is destroyed, â€Å"Something is happening outside Jeffrey’s house†¦ I see four men destroying An Lu’s garden†¦Ã¢â‚¬ The town of Corrigan is not only racist towards the Lu family, but they are also racist towards Jasper Jones, the half-cast. Jasper Jones has a terrible reputation in Corrigan. He’s a Thief, a Thug, a Truant. He’s lazy and unreliable. He’s a feral and an orphan, or as good as†¦ Jasper Jones is the example of where poor aptitude and attitude will lead. † When Charlie is confronted by Jasper Jones injuries, he is exposed to the essential hypocrisy of the town’s people. This is demonstrated when Jasper admits the truth about Laura’s dad, the Shire President, â€Å"Mate Laura’s old man is the worst out of the whole lot/But†¦ But he’s the shire president/It’s just†¦ it’s hard for me to believe, is all. It is also evident when Jasper confesses who had beaten him up to Charlie, â€Å"So who has done this to your face then? /Sarge. The local constabulary. Charlie. † It is not only the prestigious people in the town who show hypocrisy, but also Charlie’s mother. His mother disciplines him and tells him to never tell lies or be untruthful when she is having an affair. She tells Charlie not to sneak out when she is in fact sneaking out herself and lies about where she is going. Clearly Charlie changes during the course of the novel. He changes from a young man, secure in the knowledge of what is right and wrong, to a mature adolescent who has a new perspective on the town of Corrigan. As Jasper Jones forces Charlie to look at things from a new perspective, he discovers a whole new attitude of what life in Corrigan really is, and as he navigates the small town morality, racism and hypocrisy, he changes his perspective, and ultimately, who he is as a person. Family and Young Boy Charley Essays

Family and Young Boy Charley Essays Family and Young Boy Charley Essay Family and Young Boy Charley Essay Essay Topic: Everything I Never Told You Book Report â€Å"For One More Day†, By Mitch Albom Made by: Kitti Kristanti, Sec 1d For One More Day â€Å"This is a story about a family, and as there is a ghost involved, you might call it a ghost story. But every family is a ghost story  . The dead sit at our tables long after they have gone. † This is a beautiful, haunting novel about the family we love and the chances we miss. It explores the question, â€Å"What would you do if you could spend one more day with the ones you love? †Ã‚   The story  covers a conversation  Charley Benetto has with a sports writer. Throughout the conversation he goes back and forth between  the one last day he had with his mother and the important  events in his life, sharing his feelings– both past and present– about them. I particularly enjoyed the   way he shared throughout the book little vignettes of the times his mother stood up for him and the times he didn’t stand up for her. As a mother myself, I couldn’t help wondering if someday my own children would be able to look back and see with clarity the sacrifices I have made for them. Throughout the book I ‘heard’ some of the same things from the young boy Charley that I hear from my own children. It was rewarding and brought hope to see him come to a realization of how his interpretation of the events had been inaccurate and skewed by emotions in the moment. Perhaps my children will also understand someday As a young boy Charley Benetto makes the choice to be a daddy’s boy and does everything his father asks him to. Then his father disappears, leaving a broken family and an embarrassing situation for the young Charley to endure. : Being raised by a single mother has it’s challenges and plenty of embarrassment, many that Charley takes out on his mother. â€Å"So he chooses his father, and he worships him- right up to the day the man disappears. An eleven-year-old Charley must then turn to his mother, who bravely raises him on her own, despite Charley’s emabarrassment and yearning for a complete family. †   Ã¢â‚¬ Decade later, Charley is a broken man. His life has been crumbled by alcohol and regret. He loses his job. He leaves his family. He hits bottom after discovering his only daughter has shut him out of her wedding. And he decides to take his own life. † â€Å"He makes a midnight ride to his small home-town, with plans to do himself in. But upon failing to do that, he staggers back to his old house, only to make an astonishing discovery. His mother- who died eight years earlier- is still living there, and welcomes him home as if nothing had ever happened. † â€Å"What follows is the one ‘ordinary’ day so many of us yearn for, a chance to make good with a lost parent, to explain family secrets, and to seek forgiveness. Somewhere between this life and the next, Charley learns the things he never knew about his mother and her sacrifices. And he tries, with her tender guidance, to put the crumbled pieces of his life back together. † I related to this story on many levels. As a single mother myself I could relate to many of the experiences described and gained insight into what my children may be experiencing as a result of events they have no control over. As a daughter  who has at times experienced a  strained relationship with my own mother,   I gained  valuable insights into my own childhood memories and interpretations and was  reminded, again, that there is much more to the story that I do not completely understand. And as always– the betrayal revealed in the end made the recent and  painful betrayal of my own life seem small and insignificant in comparison. This clever story, told in Mitch’s masterful storytelling style, has left me with a new appreciation and understanding for those I love and has motivated me to be more intentional in valuing and cherishing the relationships I enjoy with those I love so that I will not be left with regrets for the experiences and the love lost. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever been a part of a family, who has ever lived with regrets, and who has ever questionned the value of their very existence.

It is these great ideas and innovation steps that should be used to lure teachers to embrace technology. The fact that the teachers are also in the receiving end of its advantages, makes it more appealing to tutors. However, to motivate the tutors to incorporate the technology changes motivation plans should also be strategized (Egbert, 2008). The motivation plan should also include performance predictions in case of using current technologies. If a teacher is convinced and assured of better performance after embracing technology, they are in high probable position to advocate for technological

For example, Nitrogen, carbon dioxide and Oxygen can penetrate the skin in small amounts. This finds a useful application in modern medicine as certain medications can be administered through skin. However it also has a potential drawback since certain small harmful substances like very small nanoparticles can also diffuse through the skin and cause damage. Â   Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition in which a person produces very thick and sticky mucus. Usually, the mucus flows easily and helps to trap bacteria and dirt particles but in a person with cystic fibrosis, the mucus is sticky and hence it is difficult to regulate. It is a genetic disorder hence most of the time it is passed from the parents to the offspring. Different organs like the brain and the spinal cord make up the nervous system. b) The smallest unit of matter is an atom whereas the smallest unit of life is the cell. All cells are made up of matter and hence atom. We can draw an analogy between the levels of organization in each of them. Individual cells combine to give tissues, which coordinate with other types of tissues to give organs and at the end we get a system which is further amalgamated with other

Comparison between two methods Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Comparison between two methods - Essay Example The most important rule of SSADM is that a system should be developed from the top down in hierarchical method and advanced to larger levels in feature. The design should initially reflect on the foremost activity of software, and then break this activity into sub activities and decompose each sub activities until the lowest level of detail has been achieved. The lowest level components illustrates the authentic giving out that will take place. In this manner all high-level logic and deign model are carried out earlier than detailed software code is written. If structured analysis has been carried out, the structured specification document can hand out as input to the design method (Kenneth, 1999). SSADM is now utilized as an expressive practice to additional argument of information systems development. SSADM is a group of conventional, methodical and certification principles for information systems development. SSADM comprises 5 core modules (Middleton, 2000): MERISE employs a data modeling procedure which recognizes the units concerned in the system, the association among these in addition to the practical reliability limitations associated to every relationship. The theoretical procedure model, examine a development as a position of process described from the position of observation of the administration policies of the corporation. This section will present the NIMSAD analysis and differentiate this technique from the MERISE methods for better system modeling and development. Now I will present the explanation of the SSADM methods through the Normative Information Model -based Systems Analysis and Design or NIMSAD model phases (Middleton, 2000). In this phase: it is stated that computers are â€Å"sensibly malleable† in the acumen that â€Å"they can be shaped and modeled to carry out several movement that can be distinguished in states of outputs, inputs and concerning logical procedures. Relations Between EU and BRIC Countries Social Policy Essay

Relations Between EU and BRIC Countries Social Policy Essay BRIC, is an acronym apparent first used in Goldman Sachs investment bank by Jim ONeill in 2001. It contains four largest and fastest growing emerging economies (Brazil, Russia, India and China). (Goldmann Sachs, 2003) All the four countries have some common features, as Havlik et al (2009) state, including large territory and population, low income level but fast economic growth. The four countries encompass over 25% of the worlds land coverage and 40% of the worlds population, and they might become among the four most dominant economies by 2050, as ONeill and Stupnytska (2009) argued, it is now possible that China will become as big as the US by 2027 and the BRICs as big as the G7 by 2032. The power base of these actors is their respective region, but in some circumstances their influence may be global. The relationship between the EU and BRIC countries confronts both challenges and opportunities in the aspect of politic and economy which are the follows. Firstly, EU is the biggest world exporter; in imports it ranked second after the USA, while BRIC countries are among the most potential countries. There exists direct conflict of interest between EU and the BRICS, including the lack of results from the Doha Development Agenda indicates and the disagreement on agricultural liberalization and the fear by EU of the strong competitiveness of the BRICS in this area. Secondly, the consequent return to a system of bilateral agreements and FTAs will mean that large WTO members would be able to strong-arm the small members. Thirdly, problematic that the EU continues to patronizing as a major economic â€Å"old† power. Instead the EU should accept and foster more actively the new leadership roles of the BRICS countries. Fourthly, the EU is still to a large degree defined by its defens ive attitude and the BRIC(S) is to some degree perceived as a threat. Fifthly ,according to Leal-Arcas: â€Å"it is not about what, but how you negotiate†. This points toward that the EU should negotiate on a basic of equality, reciprocity and with mutual respect towards its partners. Last but not least, Strategic Partnership Agreements with the BRIC countries. The following section is divided into four parts according to four BRIC countries. Detailed introductions and discussions about the relationship between EU and each country are shown. Brazil Brazil is the 5th largest country by geographical area and 8th biggest in national population in the world. Its nominal GDP reaches 1.6 billion US dollars, ranking the 8th of the world. (Wilson and Stupnytska, 2007) In terms of the relation with the EU, Brazil established diplomatic relations with the EU IN 1960, and the present relationship is governed by three documents, which are the EC-Brazil framework co-operation agreement (1992), EU-Mercosur Framework Cooperation Agreement (1995) and the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation (2004). Brazil is the EUs main trading partner in Latin America. In 2007, EU good exported to Brazil achieves 21.2 billion Euros and imported from Brazil amount to 32.3 billion. Brazil benefits from close and strong economic and political relations with Europe, with the two sides having several complementarities Russia Russia is the worlds largest country with population of 140.9 million. And its nominal GDP is around US$1,6bn, the 9th in the world. Russia signed a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the EU in 1997. The goods it imports from the EU is 105 billion Euros in 2008, and exports to EU account for 173.2 billion Euros, most of which are the energy goods. The relation between Russia and the EU is not easy to be improved because of its contradictory positions among EU members. However, in the may of 2005, the roadmap for common economic space was adopted during the EU-Russia summit. The main issue between the EU and Russia always relates to the energy, gas in particular. India India is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second-most populous countryï ¼Å' its nominal GDB reached 1.2 trillion last year India is an important trade partner for the EU and a growing global economic power. It combines a sizable and growing market of more than 1 billion people with a growth rate of between 8 and 10 % one of the fastest growing economies in the world. India was one of the first countries to develop relations with the Union, signing bilateral agreements in 1973ï ¼Å'when the United Kingdom joined. In 1994, the current legislative framework for cooperation, the ‘Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of India on partnership and development was signed which took bilateral relations beyond merely trade and economic cooperation and paved the way for annual EU-India Summits and regular ministerial and expert level meetings. In 2004, the EU-India relationship was ‘upgraded to the level of a ‘Strategic Partnership and 2005 an ‘EU-India Action Plan (revised in 2008) was jointly elaborated to further extend bilateral relations to noneconomic areas (e.g. security policy, education and academic exchanges, cultural cooperation), China China is the most populous state in the world with over 1.3 billion people. At about 9.6 million square kilometers, the PRC is the worlds third largest country by total area In respect of economy, China is the worlds largest exporter and second largest importer of goods. It ranks the third largest economy nominally with the nominal GDP of 4908 billion US dollars. Regarding to the political aspect, China is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and a member of multilateral organizations as well, including the WTO, APEC, G-20 and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The first ‘Trade Agreement between China and the European Economic Community (EEC) was concluded in 1978. It was substituted by the ‘EEC-China Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement in 1985, which is still in force now. The EU and China have the worlds second most important trade-and-investment relationship (after the transatlantic relationship). The EU is Chinas biggest trading partner. China is the EUs second biggest trading partner and its biggest source of goods imports. European multinationals have poured investment into China and are prominent in east-Asian supply chains (in which China is usually the last assembly stage before finished products are exported back to the West). Such deep commercial relations lead inexorably to commercial and political tensions, as they do in US-China relations. However, a huge trade deficit of EU is a main problem in relation of China and the EU. Currently, the relation between China and the EU is mainly impacted by the following two main issues. One the EU arms embargo (in force since 1989) and related restrictions on European high-tech exports to China. The other is the anti-dumping launched by EU against China. (Goods refer to Textiles, clothing, footwear, metal manufactures, and various low-tech manufactures) BRIC(S) countries in Financial Crisis The four BRIC nations in total produce 14.6 percent of the worlds gross domestic product, and take up 12.8 percent of the global trade volume. Their contribution to the worlds economic growth amounts to 50 percent in terms of purchasing power parity. Since the first BRIC summit was held in Yekaterinburg, the four countries have become prominent driving forces behind the global economic warm-up. The BRIC countries met for their first official summit on 16th June 2009 in Yekaterinburg of Russia, and the second one is hold at Brasilia of Brazil on 16th April this year. These summits, to some extent, contribute to the worlds recovery for the global financial crisis. For example, one week prior to the second summit, China announced plans to invest a total of $50.1 billion and Russia planned to invest $10 billion. In addition, Brazil offered $10 billion to the International Monetary Fund, which was the first time that Brazil had ever made such a loan. Even in the European Economic Recovery Plan, Commission of the European Communities regards the continuing dialogues with key bilateral partners such as the BRIC countries as an important way to help the EU to recover from the financial crisis. Conclusion Despite of the current world financial crisis, the economic of BRIC countries still experience a considerable increase, which induce lots of new opportunities and numerous challenges as well for the rest of the world, particularly the EU. The BRIC countries have some common features, while each of them has different situations that generate different challenges and opportunities to other countries. Take the EU for example, it requires the EU to adopt different policies to each BRIC countries to generate maximum interest for the EU. Presentation Methods :: essays research papers

There are many different ways to train. Indeed, entire books have been written on the ways to deliver training. How can a manager charged with training his or her employees choose an appropriate method? This article defines some of the most common training methods and reviews pros and cons for each one. The method by which training is delivered often varies based on the needs of the company, the trainee, and on the task being performed. The method should suit the audience, the content, the business ¡Ã‚ ¦ environment, and the learning objective. Ideally, the method chosen will motivate employees to learn, help employees prepare themselves for learning, enable the trainees to apply and practice what they've been taught, help trainees retain and transfer what they have learned, and integrate performance with other skills and knowledge. Other factors affecting the choice of a training method include: -Age, gender, or level of education of the trainees -Learning styles of the trainees -Number of trainees -Budget -Trainer's skills and training style Common group training methods include: Lecture A lecture is the method learners often most commonly associate with college and secondary education. Yet, it is also considered one of the least effective methods to use for adult learners. In this method, one person (the trainer) does all of the talking. He or she may use handouts, visual aids, question/answer, or posters to support the lecture. Communication is primarily one-way: from the instructor to the learner. Pros: Less time is needed for the trainer to prepare than other methods. It provides a lot of information quickly when it is less important that the trainees retain a lot of details. Cons: Does not actively involve trainees in training process. The trainees forget much information if it is presented only orally. Demonstration Demonstration is very effective for basic skills training. The trainer shows trainees how to do something. The trainer may provide an opportunity for trainees to perform the task being demonstrated. Pros: This method emphasizes the trainee involvement. It engages several senses: seeing, hearing, feeling, touching. Cons: It requires a great deal of trainer preparation and planning. There also needs to be an adequate space for the training to take place. If the trainer is not skilled in the task being taught, poor work habits can be learned by the trainee. Seminar Seminars often combine several group methods: lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations.
